The CHP identified the victim as Jose Martin Cortez Villegas, 20, of Marysville.
According to a statement from the CHP, Villegas was driving his Silver 350Z westbound on Highway 32 at an unknown speed Sept. 8, when he passed through a road closure area and then lost control of his vehicle, skidded off the left side of the road and down a steep embankment.
“The vehicle became airborne before hitting a large conifer tree with its roof, trapping the driver inside,” the statement continued. “A passerby observed the vehicle and notified a CHP officer working in the road closure.
