City explores options to reverse prison closure decision

According to a statement from the city, “The city of Susanville remains steadfast in its support of the employees of the California Correctional Center and High Desert State Prison. In response to the announcement of the proposed closure of CCC, city legal staff has been exploring options to reverse the decision and to obtain information from the state regarding the decision to close the facility.

“The city will continue to work with local partners and community members and share information as it becomes available. As a major employer with in the city, losing the CCC will impact our small community in so many ways. At this time, it is important that we stand together in opposition to the closure.”
