The city of Susanville and Lassen High School announce some big plans for Homecoming Week!
According to a statement from the city, “The students, faculty and staff at Lassen High School are inviting the community to join the 2023 Homecoming festivities.”
Participants are asked to use the city’s Susanville Click&Fix app’s “We are Lassen” request category to share community pride and support for the students at LHS.
“We are encouraging businesses and residents to get into the spirit and show their Lassen Pride with outside decorations, like streamers, purple and gold flowers, supportive signs or anything that makes our community great,” according to the statement. “Add a little purple and gold to your Friday outfit and share your spirit on Susanville Click&Fix.”
Friday, Sept. 29, the city of Susanville in collaboration with LHS host a Homecoming Parade on Main Street. The community is invited to sit opposite the high school and enjoy the festivities, which will include performances from the drill team, cheerleaders and drumline. The Alumni of the Year will be introduced as well as the Royalty representing their grade levels. Each class has been given a movie to base their float and skit upon and insiders say they will be impressive. The freshmen (Class of 2027) will bring “Indiana Jones” to Lassen County, the sophomores (2026) chose “The Goonies” to interpret. Juniors (2025) are exploring a whole new world in “Aladdin,” and the aseniors (2024) will cap it off with a tribute to Captain Jack in “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
Main Street will be closed from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and the parade begins at 2:12 p.m. The parade route starts at the entrance of the high school back parking lot (Berkeley Street), down Highway 36 (Main Street) and turning onto Foss Street.
The following streets will be closed: Highway 36 (Main Street) from Weatherlow Street to Alexander Avenue.
