City fire department lifts burn permit suspensions

In partnership with CalFire Lassen Modoc Unit, Susanville Assistant Fire Chief Tom Hernandez has lifted the suspension of all burn permits and open burning in the City of Susanville effective Thursday, Oct. 5. A Burn Suspension may be re-engaged in the event adverse fire weather conditions return.

Hernandez advises that those possessing valid residential burn permits can resume burning on permissible burn days. Permissible burn days can be verified by contacting Air Pollution Control District line at (530) 257-BURN (257-2876).

Residents wishing to burn must have a valid burn permit in their possession, and all regulations must be followed. Burn permits can be issued at the Susanville Fire Department at                                       1505 Main Street with a check or money order or at Susanville City Hall, 66 N. Lassen St.
