City suspends all burn permits effective June 23

Susanville Public Safety Chief Michael Bollinger suspends all burn permits and open burning in the city of Susanville effective Monday, June 24, in partnership with Cal Fire Lassen Modoc Unit.

The suspension takes effect at 11:59 p.m. June 23, and bans all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris, branches, leaves and any other type of open burning.

This declaration of suspension of all burn permits has come to fruition after a wet winter and above-average snowpack, warmer temperatures and winds (that) are quickly drying out the abundant annual grass crop.
