In partnership with Cal Fire Lassen Modoc Unit, Susanville Fire Chief James M. Moore, will suspend all burn permits and open burning in the city of Susanville effective Saturday, July 15, 2023, according to a statement from the department.
The suspension takes effect at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, and bans all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris, branches, leaves and any other type of open burning.
According to the statement, “This declaration of suspension of all burn permits has come to fruition after a wet winter and above average snowpack, warmer temperatures and winds are quickly drying out the abundant annual grass crop.”
