City to replace ‘critical section’ of watermain, partial system shutdown planned for Dec. 29

The city of Susanville is replacing a critical section of old steel watermain under Harris Drive with a new ductile iron watermain. A partial system shut down is planned for Tuesday, Dec. 29,  to switch over to the newly installed watermain, according to a statement from the city. The shutdown is scheduled for 8 a.m. and is expected to last four to six hours. The existing watermain serves a significant portion of the west side of town. Customers who are in the area east of Harris Drive but west of Grand Avenue/Richmond Road; and south of Skyline Drive but north of South Street may experience an interruption of service on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Customers at higher elevations will be the most impacted.

The city strives to provide the best possible service to our residents. Completing this work in the winter, when water demand is low, minimizes the impacts to our customers and greatly improves the City’s aging infrastructure.
