Claudia Wemple Hunt Oliver

Claudia Wemple Hunt Oliver, age 83, entered into rest at Adventist Health/Rideout Hospital in Marysville, CA, on December 15, 2021. After a struggle with various aches and pains from her recent falls, she passed peacefully in her sleep.

Claudia was born on March 9, 1938, in Susanville, CA.

She, in her own words wrote, “I was raised in Susanville and on the family ranch at Milford, CA. I was the first grandchild on both sides of the family, which means I was spoiled a little more than my cousins. I grew up with 2 great-grandmothers living nearby. Many of my mother’s cousins were my age or younger. My father’s cousins were having children that were about my age, so, I really wasn’t certain if we were second cousins, cousins-once or twice removed, or simply cousins. It seemed like I was related to many of the people around Susanville and the Honey Lake Valley.”

“I was Daddy’s little girl who loved to tap dance and play just about any sport Dad coached. I never ranked highest in the classroom, but I could always put steps to good music. My favorite subjects were English, Marching Band and P.E. Writing filled many lonely hours.”

“I married young and had 4 children in 5 years, before realizing that my perfection and pleasure far outweighed rational expectations of experts. It’s amazing what can be accomplished before you know it’s an impossible task. We spent 5 years in the Redding/ Anderson area before moving to Eureka for the next 40 years. I lived in Chico for the last 20-some years before making my unexpected move to Yuba City, CA in February 2021.”

Claudia enjoyed working with others. She was involved as a 4-H Leader. She was also a Certified Teacher’s Aid, WSI/Certified Lifeguard and Aquatic Instructor for Easter Seals and studied course classes at “College of the Redwoods” in Medical Assisting.

Claudia was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents, Myra and LeRoy Hunt, and her brother, Scott Hunt. She is survived by her four children, Diana, Denise, Michael and Darla; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grand children.
