College announces short filing period for board vacancy

Local residents who have an interest in serving on the Lassen Community College Board in Trustee Area 1 have a short time to file as a candidate in the Statewide Special Election held Sept. 14.

The college had planned to hold an election in November, but it learned if the election was not held Sept. 14, the college would bear the complete cost of a November election.

The LCC Board passed an amended Resolution at a Special meeting today, Friday, July 9 to accomplish this. The filing period is one week commencing today, July 9 through next Friday, July 16.

According to a statement from LCC, “The Lassen Community College Board of Trustees announces an election to fill the vacancy in Trustee Area 1 — Susanville Elementary School District — which will be combined with the Statewide Special Election to be held September 14, 2021.  This change has been made to save taxpayer dollars.  The filing period for this vacancy is short due to it being a Special Statewide election.  The filing period for this election is one week, commencing July 9 and closing on July 16, 2021.  Interested and qualified candidates must file candidacy papers with Julie Bustamante, Lassen County Clerk/Recorder’s Office, Susanville, CA.  So, if you’re interested, file to run today!”
