Community, correctional institution COVID-19 cases rise

The latest Lassen Cares update reports 61 new community COVID-19 cases from the previous update, as well as increasing cases at the local correctional institutions.

According to Lassen Cares, Lassen County’s COVID-19 reporting hub, as of 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, there are 361 total community cases. Of those, 186 are active, three are currently hospitalized, there are two  reported deaths and there are 170 recovered cases — an increase of 61 cases since the previous update Saturday, Nov. 21.

At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 685 active cases, four recovered and one death at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 15 active cases and 626 recovered cases at CCC, and 11 active and 12 recovered at FCI Herlong.

Positive staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Nov. 20 update from CDCR, there are 17 active staff cases at CCC and 77 active staff cases at HDSP.

Locally, there have been 10,967 tests administered, with 10,391 returning negative and 215 pending.
