Coordinator sought for Mile High Century Bike Event

The Almanor Recreation and Park District coordinates the Annual Mile High 100 Century Bike Event.  This event, now in its 41st year, occurs every year the Saturday before Father’s Day.  The event last year drew 225 riders participating in one of three rides (33, 66 and 106 miles). The district seeks a person to coordinate the event in conjunction with ARPD Board Members. A $2,000 stipend will be paid. Thorough documentation to guide the process is available.

Typical duties

  • Maintain media sites and manage online registration through BikeReg.
  • Coordinate with national cycling companies for product and endorsements (Chamois Butt’r, Honey Stinger).
  • Design promotional flyers and T-shirt design.
  • Mange MileHigh100 website and Facebook boosts.
  • Equipment – work with ARPD Board to coordinate equipment needs: signage, registration and lunch set-up and take-down.
  • Process all permitting with county and state agencies.
  • Sign and mark course day before and collect signage day of/after event.
  • Recruit SAG wagon volunteers for day of event.
  • Be on hand day of event to manage ride start and oversee the event .

Minimum qualifications
Education and experience:
Knowledge of use of social media for event promotion, work with BikeReg for online registration information. Cycling experience and enthusiasm is desirable.

Knowledge of:

  • Cycling events
  • Perform proper care/storage of program equipment/supplies.
  • Website maintenance (templated format).

Skill to:

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
  • Communicate with ARPD Board coordinator.

Ability to:

  • Lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Move and set up signage equipment and supplies.
  • Work flexible hours (most work can be done remotely excepting the three days of the actual event).
