Following lifted mandatory evacuation orders, the shelter at Lassen Community College is set to close this evening.
“Many of the mandatory evacuations have been lifted allowing shelter residents to return home safely. Therefore, we are proud to announce that Lassen County HSS has decided to close the shelter at Lassen Community College today, Wednesday, Aug 25, at 5 p.m. due to reduced occupancy,” read a statement from Lassen County Health and Social Services Department.
“At this time, Lassen County would like to thank Lassen Community College for their generosity and hospitality. This shelter was the largest shelter operated by Lassen County. We could not have made it possible without our amazing staff and partner agencies, who have worked continuously for more than 40 days providing shelter staffing, medical assistance, hot meals, and other comforts to the evacuees.”
