By a 4-1 vote, Lassen County’s Board of Supervisors approved a new contract for Richard Egan, Lassen County’s chief administrative officer. District 3 Supervisor Tom Neely cast the lone nay vote.
According to the contract, Egan has served as county CAO since February 2014. His original contract expired April 24, 2022 but was extended due to its automatic renewal provisions.
The new contract runs through Dec. 31, 2024. Egan’s base salary will be $196,350 through Dec. 31, 2023 and on Jan. 1, 2024 it will increase to $206,167.
Egan will receive a $350 per month car allowance and will be reimbursed for mileage for out of county travel. He also will receive all benefits, rights and privileges … including longevity pay and medical benefits, vacation time, sick leave, personal leave, administrative leave holidays, etc.
The contract may be terminated by Egan giving 120 days advance notice. Egan may be removed by a three-fifths vote of the board of supervisors and receive a maximum cash settlement of 18 months salary and benefit for the remaining term of the contact.
