COVID-19 cases continue to rise in community, at correctional institutions

Lassen County COVID-19 cases are continuing to rise in both the community and at local correctional institutions Friday, Nov. 20. For the community, there are currently 117 active cases.

According to Lassen Cares, Lassen County’s COVID-19 reporting hub, as of 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, there are 285 total community cases. Of those, 117 are active, one is currently hospitalized, there are two  reported deaths and there are 165 recovered cases — an increase of 24 cases since Thursday’s update.

At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 420 active cases, four recovered and one death at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are four active case and 626 recovered cases at CCC, and three active and 12 recovered at FCI Herlong.

Positive staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Nov. 13 update from CDCR, there are six active staff cases at CCC and 37 active staff cases at HDSP. New updates on staff testing should be updated sometime today, Friday, Nov. 20.

Locally, there have been 10,647 tests administered, with 10,234 returning negative and 155 pending.
