COVID-19 outbreak at Lassen County skilled nursing facility, two deaths reported
Two skilled nursing facility patient deaths were reported following a COVID-19 outbreak, the Lassen County COVID-19 Incident Command announced in a statement Monday night, Dec. 7.
“On Thursday, Dec. 3, the Lassen County Public Health Department received notice of a series of positive COVID-19 cases associated with skilled nursing facility patients resulting in an outbreak. Over the weekend, two patients passed away,” read the statement.
“We extend our deepest condolences to their loved ones,” the statement continued.
As of Monday evening, there are 378 active community cases, 305 recovered, four hospitalized and four deaths, according to Lassen Cares.
Lassen County Public Health noted it takes confidentiality seriously and, at this time, is not releasing further information about the individuals.
“Lassen County has a small population and it is our priority to maintain privacy and adhere to the Healthcare Insurance Probability and Accountability Act (HIPAA),” it read.
“It continues to be critical that individuals and organizations act to slow the spread of the virus by following all applicable guidance and recommendations from the California Department of Public Health, and carefully review new recommendations issued by the state by visiting COVID19.gov,” read the statement.
