Curtis Bortle, Susanville City Council

Curtis Bottle.

I’m Curtis Bortle, a combat veteran, a local business owner and dedicated community volunteer.  I bring nearly 40 years of life experiences to my candidacy for the Susanville City Council and the future of Susanville.

As the son of a correctional officer, we moved to Susanville when High Desert State Prison was first opened. I grew up in Susanville and Janesville and eventually graduated from Lassen Union High School. After completing a year of college, I made the decision to honorably serve our country during a time of war.

After 14 years of service as an infantryman, much of it working on counter narcotics, I returned home and opened my business.

The challenges I have faced in combat, and in the business world, have given me a wealth of experience and what takes to survive in business. I have learned that leadership and dedication is necessary to bring any organization success.

I am tenacious and creative. Being on the City Council is more than attending meetings and saying ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to things a couple times a month. Susanville needs someone dynamic and proactive to push ourselves forward to new opportunities. My business experience has sharpened my skills and made me more responsible in managing funds.  I will bring that same fiscal responsibility to the Susanville City Council.

I will bring mindful, intelligent and informed decision making to our City Council. I am committed to serving this community and making the best decisions that will improve our code enforcement efforts, public safety, and economic prosperity.

I am vested in this town’s present and future, and I will work tirelessly to do whatever I can do to advance our public interests. I am not afraid of challenges nor hard work and just like I honorably served in the Army, I will honorably serve all of you.

Please join me March 5, 2024. It would be my honor to earn your vote and the opportunity to work for all the people of this community.

Sincerely, Curtis Bortle
