This is a story that’s been circulating around the water cooler for some time, and now the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office has finally released some information to the public.

According to a Facebook post by the DA yesterday, in response to a growing number of inquiries regarding the matter: Our office received on June 30, 2025, a preliminary investigation surrounding a former Lassen Superior Court employee and allegations of suspected embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds.
Based on the report, the allegations involving state funds, and the court being a state agency, the Lassen County District Attorney has sought review by the State Attorney General.
This matter is a pending investigation, no criminal charges have been filed to date and as such no further comment can be made. Financial investigations such as these can take time and we ask for and appreciate the public’s patience.
