Davina Gaumont, daughter of Wilfred and Amy Poulin, was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on November 20th, 1927. She spent her childhood on the family farm in Claremont, Massachusetts, before the family moved to Newburyport, Massachusetts, where she graduated from high school and went to work at the Kent Shoe factory. She met Robert Gaumont at the shoe factory, after his return from Naval duty in WWII and Normandy. They were married in 1947 and moved to San Jose, California, with her family and family friends, by caravan (The California Migration). Davina worked for the CA State EDD office for 31 years, starting as an office clerk and in 1975 was manager of the Susanville office until her retirement. In retirement, she loved to garden and go fishing, as well as spend time with family and friends. Davina and Robert were happily married sixty-six years before Robert’s death in 2014.
Davina was predeceased by her parents and 4 siblings. Davina is survived by her sister Mabel Trifilo (Philip) of Gilroy; four children, Ronald (Deborah) of San Jose, Daniel (Linda) of Susanville, Suzanne (Fiance-Johnny) of San Jose, and Anita of Idaho. Davina had 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Davina lived a long life and was loved by many. Her final years were spent at Eagle Lake Village, where she was well cared for until her peaceful exit at 95.
Funeral services will be held on April 29th, at 11AM at Sacred Heart Church in Susanville, CA. A small memorial service will follow at a later date in Santa Clara at the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery to inter the ashes for both Davina and Robert.
