Don’t let the cooler temperatures fool you: Fire danger remains high

Don’t be deceived by cool temperatures, Cal Fire Lassen-Modoc Unit warned. Fire danger remains high.

Cal Fire crews along with the Spalding volunteer Fire Department were busy responding to multiple fires started by recent thunderstorms this week. The area south of Eagle Lake saw lots of lightning activity, Cal Fire shared, with the largest fire reaching 2 acres. It was contained Wednesday at about 10 p.m.

“Don’t let the cooler temperatures fool you. Fire danger remains high. Lack of precipitation has made forests and grasslands extremely dry, even at 5500 feet where this fire was located.
Please continue to be fire safe,” Cal Fire noted.
