Don’t look now, but COVID is still around

Most of us would like to see COVID-19 in the rearview mirror, but the virus is still among us according to information released by Lassen and Plumas county.

LassenCares reports eight new community cases, none currently hospitalized, 67 deaths and 6,263 total cases. One-fourth, 25 percent on the active cases are fully vaccinated residents.

Plumas County Public Health reports COVID numbers weekly and announced June 9, that there were 32 new cases of COVID reported over the past seven days; 36 were reported on June 2.

There are currently 51 people in isolation and no individuals are hospitalized. The test positivity rate rose from 8.8 percent to 10.1 percent.  These numbers only reflect those reported to Public Health, and don’t account for any positive at-home tests that aren’t reported.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Public Health has reported 3,642 cases and 20 deaths according to its latest figures.
