Duane Eugene Meadows

Duane Eugene Meadows was born at Potter Maternity Hospital on February 22, 1954, in Susanville, California, to Freda Cromwell and Earnest Meadows Sr. “Du” died December 12, 2021, in Susanville.

Duane was the great-great-grandson of the last Paiute chief Old Man Joaquin of the Honey Lake Valley and he was proud of that.

He is survived by his mother Freda Cromwell Owens, siblings Earnest Meadows, Pamela Meadows and Patrick Owens, along with 3 nephews and 2 nieces, and many cousins.

“Du” was much loved by his family and friends for his kind and loyal nature. He was known by both family and friends as a generous man who “always had your back”. He is lost too soon and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Duane’s funeral will be held at 1pm, Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Walton’s Mortuary at 115 S. Lassen Street in Susanville; he will be laid to rest in the Native American Cemetery on Paiute Lane.
