Elks Lodge hosts family friendly Spring Fling Dance tomorrow night

Here’s an event designed for the entire family.

The Susanville Elks Lodge hosts a family friendly Spring Fling Dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 9.

“Spring Fling Dance — it’s for the families. come up and have a fun evening,” said Larry Rogers.

Rogers said the bar will be closed, but snacks and beverages will be served.

“We’re looking at this as a family event,” Rogers said. “We’re not going to have alcohol, so families can come up and enjoy the evening and not have anything to worry about in that light. The whole intent is to make this a family night.”

Rogers said the Elks hosted a Valentine’s Day thing last year, and it was so popular — especially with DJ Cain, who’s very widely known around here —  but they ran into scheduling conflicts this year.

In addition to playing great music for dancing, Rogers said DJ Cain makes such an event special for the children.

“DJ Cain is very entertaining, particularly for families and kids,” Rogers said. “He’s got all kinds for things for them to do, like little dancing contests and prizes and everything.”

“Last year it was such a success that we’re bringing it back,” Rogers said. “It’s not intended to make money. We wanted to do something for the whole community and entire families. The real message we’re wanting is — we’re still here, we’re open because there are a lot of rumors going around.”

Tickets are available for $30 per family at the Lassen County Chamber of Commerce and Margie’s Book Nook.
