Ronnie Albee Carbahal, 21, of Esparato, California, was booked into the Lassen County Jail Wednesday, Aug. 26 on a suspected auto theft charge. His bail was set at $20,000.

According to a statement from the Susanville Police Department, officers responded to Lassen County Chamber of Commerce on a report of a stolen vehicle that had just occurred. As officers responded, they learned a man had stolen a vehicle that was parked and running in the parking lot.
Within minutes after the theft, a Lassen County Sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle matching the description pull up behind him on Main Street near Riverside Drive. The deputy got behind the vehicle and followed it. Then the deputy — along with a Bureau of Land Management Ranger who was in the area — followed the vehicle until it parked at the Super 8 Motel. The deputy and ranger contacted Carbahal and detained him until SPD officers arrived.
