FBLA attends leadership conference

About 50 students attended a college tour as well as leadership development workshops in Santa Clara, California. They kicked off the three-day weekend with a Stanford vs. UCLA football game. Attending this allowed the students to see all the different aspects of marketing and how the events center makes its money through concession sales as well as different pricing for seating.

The next day the students attended Santa Clara Mission College. This included a tour of the athletics facility, college campus and the campus library. For their involvement in Lassen FBLA, students were treated to a night at Great America Haunt Fest. The next day the students kicked off the FBLA Leadership Development Institute with Jenna Edwards an amazing motivational speaker to begin the workshops.

Some of the workshops attended included Seven Soft Skills, Engaged Learning, 99 Problems but Teamwork Ain’t One, Fishhooks, Drawing the Line, How to Sell Anything, Film Fundamentals, Picture This, Discover Yourself, Over-commitment, Dream Team, Finding Internships, Stress of Everyday, Build a Bond, Golden 1 Finance Scholarship, 10 Tips for Global Business, Effective Decision Making, Tik Tok, Marketing Frenzy, March of Dimes, and Nurturing the Money Tree.

The most engaging workshop attended was Bite of Reality. Bite of Reality is a simulation that takes students through real world responsibilities such as buying a car, a house, childcare, clothing, banking and buying food. Scheduled for the spring, Bite of Reality will be coming to Lassen High being paired with the career fair.
