The Susanville Fire Department conducted a training vegetation management burn Saturday, Dec. 12 along the River Trail between Riverside East and Riverside streets, but unfortunately, the burn plan and logistical commitments were hindered by Mother Nature’s timing, according to a statement from the department.
Still, the burn was considered moderately successful and met the desired objectives as beneficial live fire training was still delivered to numerous county and city firefighters.
The SFD would like to thank cooperators and participating agencies that donated valuable time and supplies to this training opportunity; CalFire Lassen-Modoc Unit, Susan River Fire Protection District, Janesville Fire Protection District, Milford Fire Protection District, Susanville Police Department, Susanville Volunteer Fire Department and a special thank you to Rebecca Sanchez and all of the folks at AXIA home loans for feeding the crews at the conclusion of the event.
