Fire damages residence

The Susanville Fire Department, with aid for the CalFire Lassen Modoc Unit, the California Correctional Center and the Lassen County Office of Emergency Services, responded to a multi-family residential fire off Roop Street about 5:48 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, Feb. 15, according to a post on the city of Susanville’s Facebook page.

The first units on scene reported the residence fully involved, and the occupants were able to escape without injury. The building sustained major damage and units will remain at scene through the morning.

The fire is under investigation by SFD.

According to the post, “We want to thank all units at scene braving the 17-degree weather. The water was literally freezing on their turnouts.”
