The Susanville Fire Department is opening up its doors for the annual Open House event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13.
“We want to community to get out and get to know us and we can get to know them,” said administrative assistant Rebecca Sanchez.
The day of festivities will feature a free hot dog lunch, various activities for local youth, including obstacle courses and rides on the classic fire engine around town.
“It’s just for people to have fun and look at the station and the engines,” Sanchez said.
Additionally, the Explorer Post 2911 will be selling raffle tickets, which will be available for purchase at the event. First place will win $500, second will get $100 and third place will get $50.
Proceeds will help the local explorers attend the fire academy in the spring.
There will also be door prizes at the event, where attendees can snag fire extinguishers and fire detectors.
