Fire department quickly contains Aug. 15 vegetation fire

The Susanville fire Department responded to a suspected human-caused vegetation fire near the area of Main and Foss streets about 3:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15.

According to a statement from the SFD, “Engine 621 from the SFD arrived on scene and found a 30 foot by 15 foot vegetation fire alongside Piute Creek. The fire was burning at a slow rate or spread in approximately three-foot tall grass. Fire crews made an aggressive fire attack and contained the fire without further spread.”

According to the SFD, three fire engines, 10 firefighters and one chief office responded to the incident.

Cal Fire and the Susanville Police Department also assisted the SFD.
