Yesterday, Thursday, March 16, at approximately 7:28 p.m., the Susanville Fire Department responded to a possible brush fire near McDonalds.
Upon arrival, Susanville Engine 621 found a 10-foot by 10-foot fire under the bridge on the east side of the Susan River on Highway 36 past McDonalds. The fire consisted of tree branches and a thick layer of bark.
E-621 extinguished the fire with assistance from CalFire E-2261. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Highway 36 was shut down for approximately one hour between the intersections of Riverside Drive and Skyline Road.
Agencies at the scene included the Susanville Fire Department, CalFire, Susanville Police Department, Lassen County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol.
