Frosting Families seeks donations to keep the cakes baking

It’s been a busy year for the local Frosting Families organization, and they are seeking donations to ensure those who deserve a sweet treat to commemorate a special occasion gets one.

The developing nonprofit helps provide cakes for low-income families, foster children, families recovering from disasters, seniors, veterans and families reuniting. They’ve even made a cake for a baby shower for a Camp Fire victim and can cater to dietary needs, making sugar- and gluten-free treats.

“It’s been a while, but here we are raising funds again as they have gotten very low. We have created a record number of cakes so far in 2021 and really need your help to keep going,” Frosting Families shared on its fundraising Facebook page Frosting Families Cakes for Kids.

“We do not pay ourselves to create these cakes, we simply put the funds toward supplies and expenses directly related to the creation of these custom cakes.”

Frosting Families set the goal of $800 to help cover the cost of supplies, and noted upcoming pie sales from the Farmer’s Market will help the organization cover expenses through the rest of the season.

Donations can be made through the Facebook fundraiser, or in person at Merry Morsels in Susanville, located at 2314 Main St.
