Gregor earns UNR cheerleader spot

Sometimes hard work, dedication and training truly do pay off in a big, big way.

Case in point — Hailey Gregor, a Lassen High School senior and Miss Lassen County, who recently signed a letter of intent to cheer at the University of Nevada, Reno.

After graduation from LHS later this month, Gregor plans to further her education at the University of Nevada, Reno as an honors student. And Gregor also is thrilled to cheer for the Division-1 cheer team in the fall, and she is excited to take her skills to the next level.

“I love being involved in my school, being a part of a team and showing my school spirit,” Gregor said. “Getting the crowd pumped up during a game is a blast. I will miss Lassen High School and Susanville so much, but I am eager to start my next chapter.”

Long way to the top

Gregor has been dancing and performing since taking her first ballet class at just 2 years old. After many years of hard work, dedication, and often training seven days per week, she has become an award winning dancer in all genres of dance, including ballet point, contemporary, jazz, modern, lyrical, hip hop, musical theater, precision, military, clogging and tap. She has attended multiple dance intensives, including the prestigious Rockettes Summer Intensive, where she auditioned against 5,000 other dancers and was chosen to train with the world renowned Radio City Rockettes, in New York City. Gregor also cheered for Susanville Youth Football League for five years and with Elite Cheer for one year.

The community-minded Gregor typically spends between 15 to 35 hours per week participating in extracurricular activities and giving back to her community. In July, she was crowned Miss Lassen County, where she is able to expand her platform of volunteerism. To date, she has spent more than 2,000 hours volunteering for a large variety of organizations and non-profits in the community.
