Grizzlies shuts out Corning

Grizzly football went to Corning Friday, Sept 28 for an explosive night for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies took a lesson from their loss at Foothill and came to Corning to show they learned from their mistakes.

Freshman Grizzlies took a regrettable loss at the start of the night 14-6 for Corning. JV and varsity decided Corning wouldn’t put another point on the board. JV finishing 25-0 and varsity finished the night 41-0. The Grizzlies had a easy time running over the Corning Cardinals.

Varsity
The first quarter was the best defense Corning could put against the Grizzlies. Grizzlies came in with a five-yard rush by Tucker St. Andre for their first touchdown and Anthony Wagner brought in a successful PAT 7-0.
The Grizzlies brought in another touchdown early in the second quarter with Hayden Chittock making a short 12-yard pass to Chandler Monahan in the corner of the end zone, with Wagner making another extra point 14-0.
Third and fourth quarters brought about three more touchdowns for the Grizzlies shutting out Corning for the second game of the night.
The Grizzlies defense was the dominant force on the field only giving up 80 yards to Corning’s offense. Corning is tough team but Grizzlies took the challenge for their first shut out.

Junior Varsity
The JV’s were early in beginning to tear down Corning’s morale with a rushing touchdown by Tavin Fowler just four minutes into the first quarter.
The rest of the first quarter had JV’s defense controlling the field and not allowing Corning a touch down, and out of field goal range.

The second quarter went into a tougher match for JV with no movement on the score. Until the two-minute mark when Zane Osborn at the goal line made a one- yard rushing touchdown to bring JV to 12-0 to end the second quarter.

Third quarter started off rough for Corning, after Lassen kicked off to Corning. The Cardinals fumbled the ball. Lassen’s Coleton Lewis recovered the ball at Corning’s 40-yard line.
The JV took advantage of the unexpected turnover for Fowler to come in for his second touchdown of the night, rushing 13 yards to bring Lassen to 18-0, with a successful PAT to make it 19-0.

Corning couldn’t contain the JV’s momentum with a long punt return to JV Kody Agee running it to Corning’s 8-yard line. Robby Robles followed that up with a seven-yard rush touchdown to end the third quarter.

The fourth quarter had JVs defense maintaining control over Corning’s field to keep them from placing a foot into the touchdown all game.
