Grizzly wrestling takes down U-Prep at home
The Lassen High School wrestling team hosted a conference meet against the U-Prep Panthers Wednesday, Jan. 17 and they certainly didn’t hold back.
Lassen won the meet with 57 points to their credit and 24 points credited to U-Prep.

First on the mat was Cameron Barton for the 106-pound division. He finished the match with the win via decision.
Next, Richie Camarena took down his opponent in the first round of the 113-pound division and thus added six points to the Grizzly team score from the fall.
Chase Montgomery took on the 120-pound division and pinned his opponent in the first round as well.
Dylan Boyer was opponent-less for the 126-pound division and thus the Grizzly team score was raised to 23 points.
Miles Ormachea finished the 132-pound division with an individual score of 9-0 on the board and thus won by decision.
Matthew Stout lost the 138-pound division via pin and a couple division forfeits by Lassen resulted in an updated team score of 27-18.

Dallin Lee was next to take the mat and earned another six team points for the Grizzlies by pinning his opponent in the first round.
Dyllan Goff lost in the 170-pound division via pin, but Chandler Monahan followed with a win in the 182-pound division via fall.
Tucker St Andre won his match in the 195-pound division via fall and Jared Monahan repeated the success in the 220-pound division by winning via fall as well.
Dyllan Bond won by forfeit, and thus the final team score was 57-24, Lassen High.
After hosting U-Prep, the Grizzlies traveled to the 21st Annual North Coast Classic Wrestling Tournament in Eureka, California on Saturday, Jan. 20.
While there, Lassen took third place of the 27 competing teams.

Regarding individual wrestlers, Camarena earned first for his weight class, Montgomery and St. Andre both earned second place in their respective divisions, Jared Monahan earned third and Chandler Monahan earned fifth. Kris Clements finished in first place for the girls’ division.
