Hailey Gregor, Miss Lassen County 2019-2020, says goodbye

To my beautiful hometown of Susanville, thank you. Thank you for your endless love and support throughout my journey as Miss Lassen County and as a member of our community. I wouldn’t be here today without the guiding hands of our tight-knit family. It truly does take a village to raise a child, and I am thankful to have grown up in such an incredible village.

I have accomplished so much in the last four years, thanks to the support of my loving community. I reached a 4.6 grade point average while taking challenging AP and honors courses at our very own, Lassen High School. I am a J and J competitive dancer and instructor, a Susanville City Kickette, captain of the LHS Drill Team, officer for the Future Business Leaders of America, LHS Yearbook editor, lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation, and most importantly, your 2019-2020 Miss Lassen County. This village has not only prepared me for career success in the future, but also a life full of compassion and empathy.

I am extremely thrilled to announce my commitment to the University of Nevada, Reno and the prestigious honors program where I will be pursuing a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. I will use this knowledge as a springboard to medical school to become a doctor and to further my involvement in my community. I dream of the day I can open my own practice and continue the volunteerism that I am so genuinely passionate about. I will also be continuing my love for dance as a Nevada Cheerleader at UNR. None of this would be possible without the support of my friends, family, and community.

Although I proudly wore the dazzling crown, a beacon for hard work and dedication to giving back to our community, I am excited for the future of the next Miss Lassen County and what positive change they make to enhance our ever-so wonderful community.

I have never known a community to be composed of such hard-working, selfless, and dedicated individuals from the different volunteer organizations to city workers, newspaper writers, business owners, coaches, teachers, essential workers, my royal court and everyone in between. I want personally thank each and every one of you for your commitment to making our village the best it can be. Lastly, I would like to thank my sponsors, Guess Plumbing and CCSO for supporting me throughout my journey.

As my journey as Miss Lassen County comes to a close, I would like to say how lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

To my beautiful hometown of Susanville, thank you.
