Highway 44 collision results in minor injuries

A Burney man sustained minor injuries following an early morning wreck on Highway 44 Thursday, according to a statement from the California Highway Patrol.

At approximately 5:53 a.m. Sept. 9, Gregory Rambo, 24, of Burney, California. was driving his company’s 1997 Ford service truck eastbound on Highway 44, on his way to Susanville. Rambo allegedly fell asleep, causing the service truck to travel across the westbound lane and into the wooded forest, according to the statement.

The Ford service truck overturned approximately 60 feet from the roadway. Rambo was able to self-extricate himself and make it to the road where a passing Cal Fire truck stopped to assist him.
