Highway 70 remains closed to through traffic between Jarbo Gap (west of Pulga) and the Greenville Wye (junction with Highway 89) in Butte and Plumas counties due to slides at two locations between Belden and Twain (just east of Belden, approximate post mile 15.2 and west of Rush Creek Road, approximate post mile 22.7).
Both sites have remained active. Following recent assessment and recommendations, rock scaling operations are currently planned at both locations starting this week.
There remains no current estimated time of opening the highway to one-way traffic control for through traffic. Motorists are advised to continue to choose alternate routes. Caltrans and contractor thank the traveling public and local residents for their continued patience during this closure.
24/7 updated highway conditions are available via QuickMap and updates on this closure can also be found on the Caltrans District 2 Facebook and Twitterpages. If you have other questions, please contact the Caltrans District 2 Public Information office at 530-225-3426 or [email protected].
