Highway 89 crash kills Taylorsville man

Damien Edward Bennett, 46, of Taylorsville, was killed in a Highway 89 crash in the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 4, according to a statement from the California Highway Patrol.

According to the CHP, Bennett was driving a 2005 Dodge pickup northbound on Highway 89 north of the Prattville Butt Reservoir Road when he lost control of his vehicle about 3:30 a.m., drove off the roadway and struck a tree. Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
