Humane society begins preparations for holiday fundraiser
The Lassen Humane Society held a special meeting on Nov. 2 to elect officers and make plans for their upcoming Christmas wreath and swag fundraiser.
During elections, Chris Todd and Carol Ingram were welcomed as new board members. Chris Geffre, who was re-elected as president, announced the resignation of Cindy Howe, secretary, and thanked her for her 13 years of service to the humane society, and said, “She will be missed as a member of the board.”
Randy Darrow was re-elected as vice president and Lois Merkle will continue as treasurer. The office of secretary will be determined at the next regular meeting.
The annual membership dinner held on Oct. 25 had approximately 25 attendees. Geffre gave a brief report of the year’s activities, and each dog currently participating in the Pups on Parole program had a picture and brief biography on display.

A report on the donation boxes located at various businesses showed more than $300 had been collected.
Plans for the holiday fundraiser were discussed. The humane society will be participating in two craft fairs on Dec. 1 and 2 in Jensen Hall at the fairgrounds as well as the Veterans Memorial Building on Main Street.
Members and volunteers will be working on Christmas wreaths and swags during the next three weeks. These items will be available for sale along with custom engraved pet tags and baked goods.
Funds collected will be used for the society’s spaying and neutering program. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the human society or making a donation, call 257-4555, send a check to P.O. Box 1575 Susanville, California 96130 or visit lassenhumanesociety.org.
