Humane Society seeks volunteers

If there are two things the Lassen Humane Society could use more of, its purses and volunteers.

Recently, the Lassen Humane Society announced it had to postpone the Purses for Pets event in conjunction with Every Bloomin’ Thing’s Harvest Festival, which is still set for Saturday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 3.

The reasoning for the postponing, according to Lassen Humane Society Director Peggy Speer is the lack of purses.

“We didn’t have the inventory,” Speer said.

However, the local organization is still accepting purse donations to help the event come to fruition.

Lassen Humane Society is seeking high-end and day-to-day purses that are clean and in good condition.

Those wanting to donate purses to the local organization can drop them off at Susan River Realty, located at 2360 Main St. in Susanville.

Moreover, the group is seeking volunteers for its myriad of annual fundraising events.

With wreath making, the annual yard sale, Purses for Pets and the St. Patrick’s Day dinner, Lassen Humane Society has many volunteer slots to fill.

Speer said interested volunteers should email lassenhumanesociety@yahoo.com, or call 257-4555, and a questionnaire will be forwarded to them.

The questionnaire, Speer said, will help Lassen Humane Society figure out what volunteers would like to participate with.

For more information, email the organization, or leave a voicemail on its answering machine.
