In reference to Garamendi’s legislation

While advanced tools like satellites are nice in helping to detect wildfires, nothing is as important as manning our lookouts and having boots on the ground to actually manage vegetation and fight the fires. That is where we should focus the bulk of our federal funding.

There was a time when the Plumas National Forest manned almost a dozen lookouts and staffed up to about 400 during fire season.

Let’s get back to that.
