Increased fire activity near Hamilton Mountain pushes back plans to repopulate Westwood

According to a Wednesday afternoon statement from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, “The Sheriff’s Office made preliminary plans in cooperation with Cal Fire Incident Management Team 3 to repopulate Westwood as early as 3 p.m. this afternoon. Unfortunately, fire activity has increased near Hamilton Mountain and it has been determined that conditions are unsafe for repopulation of that area at this time.”

“We will continue to keep the public updated as circumstances change. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.”
