Cynthia Chaffee, 52, of Janesville faces charges of hit and run, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.
According to a statement from the California Highway Patrol, Chaffee was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 4. About 12:49 p.m. Chaffee allegedly was driving her vehicle on a private dirt road near Dollar General when, “due to her unsafe speed and alcohol impairment, she lost control and hit a barbed wire fence. After hitting the fence, she made a U-turn, collided with another fence and then fled the scene.”
A homeowner witnessed the incident and gave chase, but abandoned it when speeds reached more than 100 miles-per-hour. About 20 minutes later a CHP officer observed a vehicle that matched the description with fresh damage, and Chaffee was arrested.
