Local firefighters will get hands-on training this week as the Susan River Fire Protection District hosts a training burn at 701-985 Johnstonville Road.
Starting today, Thursday, May 16 through Sunday, May 19, the training will allow for firefighting personnel to enhance their skills in suppression activities while working safely in a controlled environment for future fire and life safety needs, according to a statement from the district.
Smoke and flames may be visible at times and all precautions have been taken for the safety of surrounding properties, the statement continued.
The district noted its hope the training does not cause any disruption for residents and thanked them for their understanding and cooperation.
