The Lassen County District Attorney’s Office reports a jury convicted Chauncey Castodio, 44, of Doyle, of one count of sexual battery, but the jury found him not guilty of the top count of forcible penetration.
According to a statement from the district attorney’s office, this is Castodio’s second conviction for a sex-based crime — he has a prior conviction for statutory rape.
“We appreciate the jurors for their time and patience while this particular trial process endured some unusual circumstances causing significant delays,” according to the LCDA’s Facebook page.
“We also thank the witnesses who testified in the case, especially the victim. We will continue to provide services to the victim as needed to aid in recovery from this event.”
The case was investigated by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by District Attorney Rios.
