A Lassen County jury convicted Mark Anthony Moulder, 62, of three counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, in violation of Penal Code section 288.5. This was alleged as — and the jury found true — a “one strike” pursuant to Penal Code section 667.61, which means because there were multiple victims under the age of 14, Moulder now faces a 25-years-to-life sentence, scheduled for April 5, 2022.

According to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office Facebook page, “We would like to recognize the courage exhibited by the survivors and their families, not only to come forward and report the abuse, but also to participate in the trial process, including testifying in court. There is often a belief that once a crime is reported, the matter is concluded. While we try to minimize the impact on child witnesses and their time in court, sometimes it is inevitable. This process is not easy and without these brave individuals and their incredibly supportive families, this conviction would not have happened. We wish everyone well as they can hopefully now begin the healing process.“We would also like to thank the jurors for their time and consideration in listening to the testimony of these survivors. This was a collaborative effort involving our Child Advocacy Center, DA Investigations, Lassen County Victim/Witness, and the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office. This case was prosecuted by District Attorney Susan M. Rios.”
