A juvenile is in custody in the Lassen County Juvenile Hall after a confrontation with a Susanville Police officer.
According to a statement posted on the Susanville Police Department’s Facebook page, about 5 p.m. Monday, June 1, a SPD officer observed a juvenile who had an outstanding arrest warrant near the intersection of Grand Avenue and First Street.
When the officer attempted to contact the juvenile, he fled on foot into the rear of a residence around the 1500 block of First Street. As law enforcement attempted to take the juvenile into custody, he “struck an officer in the face causing injury,” according to the statement.
The officer and the juvenile were both seen by medical personnel at Banner Lassen Medical Center. The officer was treated for his injuries and released. The juvenile was booked into juvenile hall for his outstanding warrant and three additional felony charges.
