Lady Grizzlies finish unforgettable season
Tuesday Oct. 30 the Lady Grizzlies made the trip to Sutter High School to face off against the Sutter Huskies in the 2018 Northern Section Division IV volleyball playoffs game.
This season the Lady Grizzlies have faced some incredibly tough teams and were able to overcome those teams with smart tactics and a focused drive. The Huskies were possibly one of the toughest teams they have faced this season.
The Lady Grizzlies went at the Huskies at full force. Taking the game to all five sets, as the Lady Grizzlies took the first and third rounds of the game scoring 25-22 and 25-23.
The Huskies were able to overcome the Lady Grizzlies in the second and final two sets scoring 25-19, 25-21 and 15-12.
The Lady Grizzlies gave their all this season and especially against the Sutter Huskies. Brittany Patton finished against the Huskies with 17 points and five kills while Ellie Stewart ended the night with 13 kills.
Allyza Andrade scored 11 points and finished with the usual high assists at 19 assists. Jamie Larson had 10 points two of those kills.
The Lady Grizzlies may have lost by the skin of their teeth, but this one game does not reflect on the season entirely. The Lady Grizzlies have had an amazing season with an overall record of 25 wins and 10 losses, league record of eight wins and two losses.
The Lady Grizzlies finished the season with impressive stats. Stewart finished the season in attacking with 236 total kills, as Patton followed up with 150 kills recorded.
Larson led in serving with the number of serves recorded at 388 total and 61 serving aces. Patton followed with 370 total serves and 60 serving aces.
Stewart led blocking for the Lady Grizzlies with 124 total blocks and 91 solo blocks.
Many of the Lady Grizzlies were active in digs this season with Paige Martin leading with 201 digs, followed up by Jordanna Jones with 196 total digs and Patton with 134 digs recorded.
Andrade led in assists for the Lady Grizzlies with 287 total assists, as Chelsea Williams followed up with 112 assists recorded.
Serve receiving was led by Patton with 408 total receptions, and Jones recorded 309 receptions.
“This team has by far exceeded all expectations I had on the season. Their willingness to learn and love for the game sent them to the second round of playoffs, only the second team to achieve this at LHS. These young ladies are amazing athletes and young women. I have the utmost respect and love for each and every one of them.”, said coach Jessica Larson.
