Lady Grizzlies outshoot all in their path
Before the holiday break began for the Lady Grizzlies they took to the road Tuesday, Dec. 18 and Friday, Dec. 21 to face off against Orland, then Modoc.
The Lady Grizzlies took wins in both — 61-32 against Orland, and 63-40 against Modoc, putting them at a very impressive 11-2 pre-league record.
Lady Grizzlies vs. Orland
The Lady Grizzlies have been a force of nature this season and the game against Orland was no different. The Lady Grizzlies dominated each quarter of the game. The first quarter was excruciating for the Orland team as the Lady Grizzlies put up 18 points to double the Orland’s nine points at the end of the first quarter.
The Orland team followed the same pattern the second and third quarter only putting in nine points each quarter. While the Lady Grizzlies out shot them at every turn, ending the second quarter with 13 points and the third quarter with 17 points.
The final quarter was the Lady Grizzlies defense’s time to push to widen the gap further with only five points from the Orland team to the 13 points from the Lady Grizzlies.
The team as a whole was the pinnacle of the victory. As the ever athletic Ellie Stewart led the Lady Grizzlies in tallying 17 points by the end with Jamie Larson finishing with 13 points, as well as six rebounds.
Ronnie Merrill was the defensive lead for the Lady Grizzlies, she finished with six steals from the Orland offense.
Lady Grizzlies vs. Modoc
After devastating Orland on the court, the Lady Grizzlies took on the Modoc Braves and proved that being brave does not mean you can take on a grizzly.
The Lady Grizzlies used the first quarter more as a warm up as Modoc was able to keep up, right until the end of the first quarter but were unable to overcome their lead 17-13.

The second quarter saw a different Lady Grizzly team as their defense took center stage only allowing Modoc six points all quarter, in comparison to their 20 points.
The Lady Grizzlies took a step back in the third quarter allowing Modoc to outshoot them by way of free throws but still unable to overcome their huge lead 47-30.
The Lady Grizzlies came back in the fourth quarter to inflict their will upon Modoc, with a beautiful defense through the whole quarter putting 18 points over the Modoc teams 10, finishing with a huge lead of 63-40.
The Lady Grizzlies will begin Northern Section League on Tuesday, Jan. 8 against Yreka and be entering in the number one position in their section with an 11-2 pre-league record with U-Prep in second at 9-3 and Yreka in third at 9-5.
