LaMalfa obtains funding for Oroville Veterans Memorial Park

Congressman Doug LaMalfa announced the final community project funding gained through the Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations bill, for the Oroville Veterans Memorial Park, ADA Accessibility, and River Access Improvement Project.

Funding requested for this project will be used to finish construction of the Oroville Veterans Memorial Park, adjacent to the existing Oroville Veterans Memorial Hall, providing critical ADA access to the Hall, and to Feather River recreational opportunities.

Both the Memorial Park and Memorial Hall are permanent memorials which recognize military veterans associated with Butte County and honor the County’s Medal of Honor recipients.

“Obtaining this funding was a long time coming, Supervisor Bill Connelly and his committee have been working on this park for 22 years,” LaMalfa said. “This park and memorial wouldn’t be here without his efforts. As well, the vision and determination of the late Stu Shaner to move this dream of his forward. I’m pleased that the funding I sought for them has come through and will help them complete it. Oroville Veterans Memorial Park will be a fitting tribute to our veterans, and all that pass by will be reminded to have gratitude for their sacrifice for our freedom.”

“As chairman of the Oroville Veterans Park Committee for all of Butte County it is with a great deal of pleasure we accept the funding that Congressman LaMalfa obtained for this worthy project honoring the fallen from Butte County,” said Butte County District 1 Supervisor Bill Connelly.
