LaMalfa opposes another ‘kick the can’ budget scheme

Congressman Doug LaMalfa issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 6119, the Further Extending Government Funding Act. This bill, which passed in the House of Representatives, extends current government funding levels to Feb. 18, 2022.

“Temporary extensions of funding are no way to run the government,: LaMalfa said. “It would be a far better use of our time and taxpayer dollars for the Democrats to meet us halfway so we could work together to create a substantial and long-term plan for funding our country. While I was able to support the last continuing resolution, which was passed on Sept. 30, 2021, as it contained billions in disaster relief for wildfires, floods, and drought, tonight’s had nothing to offer but dysfunction. The bottom line is that continuing resolutions should not replace a formal budget proposal. We need to be focusing on long-term policies and programs which benefit our most vulnerable citizens.”
